Enterra Solutions to Provide New Technology to Improve Emergency Response Procedures RESTON, Va. (May 21, 2007) – Enterra Solutions, LLC, announced today that it will develop new technology to improve security procedures in the event of a disaster. Enterra will support emergency response personnel by providing aids to meet both state and federal rules and regulations along with facility procedural requirements under the high-stress environment associated with an emergency. Enterra, awarded a contract from Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), will apply its Enterprise Resilience Management Solution™ to streamline emergency response procedures as part of the Southeast Region Research Initiative (SERRI). SERRI, established to support U.S. Department of Homeland Security initiatives in the Southeastern section of the United States, sponsors research directed towards critical infrastructure protection and homeland security problems of both regional and national interest. Enterra Solutions will support ORNL by helping SERRI develop automated emergency response procedures. “Our nation’s critical infrastructure can be severely affected by catastrophic events, whether the cause is natural or man-made,” said Enterra’s CEO Stephen F. DeAngelis. “This project will help leaders of sites like power plants respond more effectively to crises. By applying our Rule Set Automation process to support ORNL and SERRI, we can begin to build a resilient nation – starting with our most critical national assets.” Enterra’s automated rule sets will give facility operators and government leaders significantly greater confidence in their ability to identify and respond to potential threats. As a result, there will be improved worker safety and enhanced protection of the environment and surrounding populations. “We have a strong working relationship with Enterra, and we are eager to have them on board for this initiative as well,” said Warren Edwards, Director of SERRI. “This project has significant long-term implications for the way our nation responds in the face of disaster. This program marks the first attempt to apply the lessons learned from previous disasters to those communities recovering from catastrophic events.” Enterra recently signed a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement with ORNL to produce ResilienceNet™, which is designed to create a 21st century civilian defense infrastructure. Additionally, DeAngelis established, with the Oak Ridge Center for Advanced Studies, the Institute for Advanced Technologies in Global Resilience. The Institute will provide the venue for leading chemical, nuclear, biological and information technologists, political scientists and business people to join together to explore approaches to critical issues facing the world.
